I was born and raised in Colorado.   Since early childhood I was exposed to the fine arts, from the masters to the opera.

During my school years I worked in pottery, lost wax casting of fine metals, lapidary, wood and wrought iron. Just out of school, I worked for a short time in scientific glass blowing. It was not until I was 25 that I discovered the artistic side of glass. The medium continued to intrigue me and has held its’ grip for the past 27 years.  Most of this time was spent on running another business to support my family. Just recently I decided to get my work back out into the art word.

I am a self-taught artist. My  work is included in

Glassblowing, An Introduction to Solid and Blown Glass Sculpting, by Homer L. Hoyt. I have sold my work in both the Colorado History Museum and Denver Natural History Museum gift shops. I have

donated glass art for the PBS auction and former Colorado Governor Roy Romer’s wife owns one of my pieces. My work is presently in several galleries, and I have received awards in  judged shows.

I was elected President of the Colorado Glass Artist’s Fellowship last year.

I use solid colors, glass powder and frit cased over clear base material or solid translucent color. No paints or dies are used as they can chip or fade over time. It usually takes more than one attempt before I have a completed work of art. Glass is a fascinating medium to work with.

I love to create the human form, which has so many different levels of expression and beauty. I also enjoy the humor I see, as well as the mystery. With the multitudes of dimension and reflections in glass, I am able to capture all the variations I see in life and express them.

Glass, born out of the fire and put back into the flame, the dimensions, ever changing, never stays the same. The origins of glass are lost in time. The possibilities are endless. The only restriction is the imagination of the mind. Drawn to flame, colors flashing into the light. I wish I may, I wish I might, finish this piece before day ends night.
